What is Nagoya Foodie

Nagoya Foodie is a new company offering food tours in Nagoya. By participating in a Nagoya Foodie tour you will make your stay in Nagoya one of the most memorable stops of your Japan trip. Why will it be memorable? Because of all the delicious food you will try, and the interesting tidbits about Nagoya and the Japanese culture you will learn about from our knowledgeable guides.

What's included in a Private Food Tour

The Private Food Tour is only one of multiple food tours that Nagoya Foodie offers. Included in the Private Food Tour are 3 hours packed with information about Nagoya and Japan, and around 8 delicious foods and snacks to sample, that will fill you up, guaranteed!

You will wander the streets of Nagoya and visit restaurants you could never find as a tourist.

How long is the tour? How much walking is involved?

The whole tour will take about 3 hours, maybe longer if you want to stick around at the last stop to relax a little bit. Your itinerary at a private tour depends on your preferences and therefore it is hard to say how much walking will be involved. Other tours are about 3 kilometers (2 miles). There will be multiple stops in between where you can sit and rest for a couple of minutes.

How many people will be on the tour?

Since this is a private tour it will just be you and your friends or family + one of our guides. No other people will be part of this tour.

In general private tours can accommodate 1 to 8 people. It is hard to find restaurants in Nagoya that have space for more people and therefore we cannot accommodate bigger groups.

I have allergies or dietary restrictions. Can this tour accommodate me?

Since we create this tour just for you we can accommodate almost all kinds of dietary restrictions. Finding vegan food in Nagoya is not easy and that’s why we currently cannot provide a tour with only vegan food but we are working on it.

Is this tour a good fit for families?

A private tour will be perfect if you are a family with children. We can make sure that there is food your children will enjoy as well!

What is not included in the tour?

The transportation to the meeting place and from the endpoint is not included in the tour fee. Your knowledgeable guide will be happy to help you find transport back to your hotel or to the next activity of the day.

While tipping is not a common practice in Japan, feel free to tip our guides if they did a great job.

What should I bring?

Since there is quite a bit of walking involved we recommend comfortable shoes.

Depending on the weather sunglasses and a hat, a rain jacket and umbrella would also be a plus.

We do provide one bottle of water and you will get something to drink at the 3 restaurants we visit throughout the tour, it still might be a good idea to bring something to stay hydrated especially in summer.

And of course most important of all: Bring a healthy appetite!

What happens when it rains? Will the tour be canceled?

In general, tours take place rain or shine. Bringing an umbrella or rain jacket just in case is always a good idea.

We might cancel in case of extraordinary weather conditions like a typhoon or after natural catastrophes. You will get an email at least 2 hours before the tour in case it is canceled.

Can I cancel or reschedule the tour?

Since a lot of work goes into planning a private tour these tours cannot be canceled once they are booked (with a 24-hour grace period).

It might, however, be possible to change the date and time of your tour. So, get in contact with us as soon as your plans change.
